She’s been to all 4 Yin Yan classes in a week so it had to be, Faye Brennan is our Yogi of the Week, and we had a quick chat as we gave her a bunch of celebratory grapes:
Yin Yan: Four Yin Yan classes in a week, you must be very healthy?
FAYE: Well I like to take care of myself and keep fit – I’m Yogi of the Week goodness sake!!
YY: Haha – quite! So when and why did you try yoga?
FAYE: I started going to hot yoga a couple of years ago with a friend, although now I think I prefer the non-hot yoga. At first I was just thought it was physical, all stretching and toning, but the more I’ve done it the more I enjoy the breathing and other things that go with it.
YY: What sort of things?
FAYE: I don’t know, yoga’s more than just exercise isn’t it – it’s more like a way of thinking. You’re always learning and can see yourself improving all the time. Sometimes I can’t be bothered going to the gym but I never feel that way about yoga.
YY: That’s really interesting, it’s not unusual for people to be surprised when they discover the non-physical benefits of yoga. So have you any advice for anyone out there thinking about trying a Yin Yan class?
FAYE: I would definitely recommend it – you go at your own pace and there are always options for everyone, no matter what level you are. You only have to try it once!
YY: Sound advice from a wise yogi! So will you be at all 4 classes this week too?
FAYE: Sadly I can only get to one this week, but I signed up to the 21 days for £15 so it’s still a bargain!
A ‘yogi’ is someone who practices yoga. Each week we pick a Yogi of the Week, they aren’t ‘the best’ at yoga – yoga’s all about being safe within your own limits – but we like to show you that yoga is for everyone!
