A ‘yogi’ is someone who practices yoga, if you do a class with us you are a Yin Yan Yogi! All our yogis are amazing and each week we’re going to randomly pick a “Yogi of the week”, they aren’t ‘the best’ at yoga or anything like that – that’s not what yoga’s about, at class you’ll see it’s all about being yourself with options for everyone to practise safely within their own limits.
[FANFARE] This week, [DRUMROLL], Peter Rigby is our Yin Yan Yogi of the week. We had a quick chat as we were giving him a congratulatory bag of peaches (I know, pretty amazing):
YY: So Peter, well done on being a Yin Yan Yogi of the Week [Peter nods modestly]. I hope you don’t mind my saying that you look more like a big burly rugby player than a yoga expert?
PETER: Ha, yes that’s pretty much right!
YY: Why did you try Yin Yan?
Peter: I’ve had some back problems, I play rugby and know all the professional teams use yoga in their training to help flexibility and avoid injuries – plus I work in the commercial district where the classes are, and the first class was free.
YY: Good skills! Had you ever done yoga before?
PETER: I’d been to one or two classes years about 5 years ago, but couldn’t really remember them so I was pretty much a novice.
YY: And how did you find your first Yin Yan class?
PETER: It was great, quite challenging but I really enjoyed it and felt more energised afterwards – I’ve bought a 3 class pass and have been again since.
YY: Which class did you go to?
PETER: The Tuesday lunchtime class, it’s so much better than sitting at your desk and you don’t get too sweaty so it’s no hassle.
YY: Would you recommend Yin Yan?
PETER: Yes definitely, anyone should just try it – it’s very easy and if you can get a free class what have you got to lose?
YY: Well I’m not sure I can add anything to that, well done – you’re our first ever Yin Yan Yogi of the Week!
